How to Play Backgammon Board Game
When you become interested in backgammon then you have to start to learn how to play backgammon. A board game, such as backgammon, can be very simple to learn, but the more you play the more you will need to understand the strategies used that will make you a winner.
To begin the game each player gets to roll one die. The player with the higher number makes the first move but has to use the die that was rolled by him and his opponent. If it happens that both of you roll the same number then that is what is called cocked dice and the dice must be rolled again until you get two different numbers. When the right die is rolled, each player takes his turn and moves his checkers to the number that he has rolled. He can move one checker from one number on one dice and another checker on the other number of the other dice or he can move one checker by combining both numbers and using all the numbers with one checker. Basically you are still making two moves only you are just using one checker to do it.
When you roll and the same number is on both dice then this is what is called a double and with doubles you are allowed to move four times instead of two. For example if he rolls 3-3 he can move up to four men but each move must be three spaces. You continue to take turns for the rest of the game except if it comes to either one of you not being able to make a move and then you can forfeit the game on your turn. Playing a backgammon board can be challenging as well as lots of fun.
